What changed

  • The Steward's kit 2.36.1: GenieX 0.8.0 is the NPU's server on a Snapdragon.

Before you update

  • Nothing: it updates itself as usual. This kit comes after 2.36.0; 2.33.0 (Steward 0.19.4) is still to be released and doesn't depend on it.

It carries the Steward's kit 2.35.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.

What changed

  • The Steward's kit 2.35.0: A release of an agent Castellan sells goes to the Exchequer, and no longer to the public releases repository.

Before you update

  • Nothing: it updates itself as usual. Agents for sale stop appearing in the public releases repository once the Exchequer 0.6.0 is deployed with its migration applied. Until then, releases go there as before.

It reads your documents every round again, whether or not you've chosen any mail.

What changed

  • Since 0.2.2 the Chamberlain stopped every round, documents too, until you chose a mail source (Thunderbird, a mail account or a folder of saved mail). Manor saw no rounds, and Run now did nothing. Now it reads your Documents folder every round regardless, and reads your mail as soon as you choose a source.
  • Choosing mail is a gentle prompt now, not a hold: until you choose a source, "What it reads" on its page says it is reading your documents meanwhile and where to choose mail in Settings. The tour still asks for it.

Before you update

  • Nothing: it updates itself as usual. Its first round after updating reads anything in your Documents folder that changed while it was waiting.

Before you update

  • The accelerators move from Reeve's config.json to %USERPROFILE%\.manor\accelerators\config.json the first time the Smith (or Reeve's keeper) reads them after updating: a copy, word for word, and Reeve's file is left as it was. Nothing to do.
  • On a PC whose NPU isn't set up yet, the Smith's or Manor's Set up now offers its maker's server and models (several GB) and asks first.

What's new

  • The Chamberlain needs your mail to do its job, so until you give it one source of it (Thunderbird's mail, a mail account, or a folder of saved mail), it doesn't start its rounds. Its page says Waiting for its settings, with Fill them in, and so does its card in Manor. Its first-hire tour asks for those three now; your Documents folder it reads by itself, as before, and other folders are in Settings.

What changed

  • The Steward's kit 2.28.0, which brings 2.27.0 too: an accelerator's name is what the PC calls it, never a setting; and an agent can wait for a setting only you can give.

  • Nothing: it updates itself as usual. If you haven't set up any mail yet, it pauses its rounds, your documents too, until you do.

Its page is drawn from smaller parts.

What changed

  • The page's code is split into smaller components, so it is easier to keep right. It looks and works as before.

A shorter Settings page, and a tour for new hires.

What's new

  • A tour. When Manor hires the Chamberlain it offers its tour: what it does, which documents and mail it reads, then its page. Open it again any time at #/tour.
  • The manor's page frame. The title bar, on and off duty, the theme and Back to Manor are the same as on every agent's page, and Run now is in the title bar.
  • Search, Ask and reading a message happen on the page itself, without reloading it. A link from before (/?q=…) still opens its search.

What changed

  • Settings is short. It shows the document folders, mail folders, Thunderbird's mail and mail accounts. The size limits, the per-round limits, re-ranking by meaning and the round interval are under Advanced.
  • Mail passwords have their own section on the page.

Before you update

  • Nothing: it updates itself as usual. Your settings and saved passwords are kept, and the index isn't rebuilt.

Re-ranking by meaning is never said to be the NPU's when the Chamberlain doesn't know where it ran.

  • When no accelerator in Reeve's config serves embeddings (or Reeve isn't set up), search results and Ask's passages are re-ranked with npu-embed's default address. That server was called the NPU; it's now named by its model and address alone, and a re-ranking there says "by a local model".

Offline, a mail account waits for the network instead of failing.

What changed

  • When the PC is offline, an IMAP account that can't reach its server shows a grey offline badge on the page, not a red failed one. The mail fetched before stays, and the next round fetches what's new.
  • A refused connection, a login failure or a wrong server still shows failed, offline or not.

What changed

  • With more than one chat model, the page said Ask goes to "whichever is free first". It now says the NPU answers, and a graphics card only what the NPU can't.

Re-ranking search results keeps the NPU's work on the NPU.

What changed

  • When the NPU serves embeddings but its server isn't running, search results are ranked by words, and the page says the NPU's work isn't sent to a graphics card. Before, the search went to a graphics card's server instead.
  • A graphics card's server is still used when the NPU doesn't serve embeddings, or failed lately.
