Developer Herald: release notes
Each version, newest first.
0.8.6
It carries the Steward's kit 2.36.1: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.36.1: GenieX 0.8.0 is the NPU's server on a Snapdragon.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual. This kit comes after 2.36.0; 2.33.0 (Steward 0.19.4) is still to be released and doesn't depend on it.
0.8.5
It carries the Steward's kit 2.35.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.35.0: A release of an agent Castellan sells goes to the Exchequer, and no longer to the public releases repository.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual. Agents for sale stop appearing in the public releases repository once the Exchequer 0.6.0 is deployed with its migration applied. Until then, releases go there as before.
0.8.4
It carries the Steward's kit 2.34.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.34.0: An agent's rounds never stop silently.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual. This kit comes after 2.33.0 (Steward 0.19.4); if 2.33.0 isn't released yet, release it first.
0.8.3
It carries the Steward's kit 2.32.1: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.32.1: The kit names the app the person bought: Castellan.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.8.2
It carries the Steward's kit 2.32.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.32.0: A release goes to the agent's own repository, and to a releases repository only where one is named.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.8.1
It carries the Steward's kit 2.30.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.30.0: A release is published to the Exchequer, Castellan's release service, as well as to GitHub.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.8.0
It suggests what to follow from your own projects, and reads GitHub without gh too.
What's new
- Suggested feeds: Reeve finds the projects on this PC, and the Developer Herald reads what each depends on (package.json, Cargo.toml, go.mod, requirements.txt). The GitHub repositories those packages come from are suggested on its page, the ones most of your projects use first. Follow adds one's releases to your feeds in a click; Not this one hides it; Look again reads your projects now.
- GitHub without gh: with the GitHub CLI installed and signed in, GitHub is read through it, as before (5,000 requests an hour). Without it, through GitHub's public API (60 an hour), with the same ETags, so unchanged answers cost nothing. The page's first card says which, and how to get more: install the GitHub CLI, then sign in to GitHub with it.
What changed
- Its card in Manor and its page speak of the projects you build on, not one particular PC's toolchain.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual. Your feeds, keywords, issues and searches stay as they are; suggestions appear beside them, and none is followed until you press Follow.
- Suggestions need Reeve installed.
0.7.2
It carries the Steward's kit 2.29.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.29.0: Every agent's page fits a phone: the title bar's action and wide tables no longer push the page sideways.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.7.1
It names no folders of one particular PC.
What changed
- Its entry for Manor (manor-agent.json) no longer names a Node in a folder only one PC has: it runs on Manor's own Node, or one installed in the usual place.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.6.4
It carries the Steward's kit 2.28.1: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.28.1: Security fix: a value with curly quotes in it could break out of a PowerShell string.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.6.3
It waits until you give it something to follow, and says so.
What's new
- With no release feeds, tracked issues or Hugging Face models, the Developer Herald has nothing to read, so it now waits for one before it starts its rounds. Its page says Waiting for its settings, with Fill them in, and so does its card in Manor. Its first-hire tour asks for those three; the keywords that make an item relevant are in Settings.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual. If it follows nothing yet, its rounds wait until you add something.
0.6.2
It carries the Steward's kit 2.28.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.28.0: Required settings: an agent that can't work without something from you waits for it, and onboarding asks for it.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.6.1
It carries the Steward's kit 2.27.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.27.0: An accelerator's name is what the PC calls it, never a setting.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.6.0
A shorter Settings page, and a tour for new hires.
What's new
- A tour. When Manor hires the Developer Herald it offers its tour: what it does, your keywords, release feeds and tracked issues, then its page. Open it again any time at
#/tour. - The manor's page frame. The title bar, on and off duty, the theme and Back to Manor are the same as on every agent's page, and Run now is in the title bar.
What changed
- Settings is short. It shows your keywords, release feeds, tracked issues, Hugging Face and Plain-words notes (the summaries' switch). How often it runs, releases read per repo and summaries per round are under Advanced.
- Gone from Settings: the summaries' sizes (pieces read, piece size, room for each answer). They are the Developer Herald's own now, and fit whichever accelerator writes them.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual. Your feeds, keywords, issues and searches are kept, and so are how often it runs and whether it summarizes.
0.5.16
It carries the Steward's kit 2.26.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.26.0: The kit names no one's GitHub account, private repository or folder.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.15
Ready for the Steward's kit 2.26.0: older summaries still say they came from the NPU.
What changed
- A summary written before 0.3.0, when every summary came from the NPU, is labelled "note from the NPU" again, on the page, in the round's report and in its log. With the new kit it would have said "note from a local model".
- Moving in the Herald's hand-off folder no longer fails when Windows still has the folder open a moment after its files were written (the search indexer or a virus scan). It tries again for up to a second.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.13
It starts with no tracked issues and no Hugging Face searches either, so everything it follows is your choice.
What changed
- Tracked issues start empty. Add the GitHub issues you follow under Settings: Tracked issues, Add issue, then its repository (owner/name) and number.
- Hugging Face starts with no author and no searches, and nothing is searched until you name an author (a user or organization) and add searches among its models. The page says how while there are none.
- An author that isn't a plain name is no longer replaced by someone else's: no searches run until it is one.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual. Tracked issues and Hugging Face searches already in your settings are kept as they are.
0.5.12
It starts with no keywords and no release feeds, so you choose what it watches.
What changed
- Keywords and Release feeds in Settings start empty. They used to be one PC's own: Snapdragon NPU words and the repositories its NPU stack runs on.
- While there are none, the page says how to add them: a release feed under Settings, Release feeds, Add repo; your words under Settings, Keywords. Without keywords, a release is relevant only when it mentions a tracked issue.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual. The keywords and release feeds already in your settings are kept as they are.
0.5.11
It carries the Steward's kit 2.19.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.19.0: Every release says what it brings: its notes are the agent's CHANGELOG.md entry for the version.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.10
It carries the Steward's kit 2.18.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.18.0: Non-employee projects: repositories that ride along with the manor.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.9
Offline, a feed that can't be read waits for the network instead of showing an error.
What changed
- While this PC is offline, a GitHub or Hugging Face feed that can't be read gets a grey offline badge with when it was last read, not a red error badge, and it isn't counted as an error.
- The header says how many feeds are waiting for the network. They are read again on the next round, and a tracked issue's linked fixes keep what they last showed until then.
- A feed that fails for any other reason while online is still an error, as before.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.8
It carries the Steward's kit 2.17.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.17.0: A release is built, never the readable source, and published in the public Jcollier0120/Manor-releases.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.7
It carries the Steward's kit 2.16.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.16.0: Every agent's page uses the width of the window.
- This release brings 0.5.6 too, which was never released on its own: the Steward's kit 2.15.0: Offline is waited out, never a failure.
- It has the tool its releases are built with from kit 2.17.0 on.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.5
It carries the Steward's kit 2.14.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.14.0: The title bar stays at the top as the page scrolls.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.4
Manor finds Developer Herald on GitHub.
What's new
- Each release carries its entry for Manor beside the download, so Manor (0.4.35 or later) can find and offer it from GitHub.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.3
It carries the Steward's kit 2.13.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.13.0: The NPU first.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
