Miller: release notes
Each version, newest first.
0.5.15
It carries the Steward's kit 2.36.1: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.36.1: GenieX 0.8.0 is the NPU's server on a Snapdragon.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual. This kit comes after 2.36.0; 2.33.0 (Steward 0.19.4) is still to be released and doesn't depend on it.
0.5.14
It carries the Steward's kit 2.35.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.35.0: A release of an agent Castellan sells goes to the Exchequer, and no longer to the public releases repository.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual. Agents for sale stop appearing in the public releases repository once the Exchequer 0.6.0 is deployed with its migration applied. Until then, releases go there as before.
0.5.13
It carries the Steward's kit 2.34.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.34.0: An agent's rounds never stop silently.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual. This kit comes after 2.33.0 (Steward 0.19.4); if 2.33.0 isn't released yet, release it first.
0.5.12
The Miller makes video copies out of the box: it fetches its own FFmpeg when this PC has none.
What's new
- When there's no FFmpeg on this PC, the Miller fetches its own, once: a small LGPL build (about 12 MB) for Arm or x64 PCs, checked against the exact build it expects before it's used. It reaches your PC's own video encoder through Windows' Media Foundation, so copies are quick and light on power. Before, videos waited in the hopper until you found and installed an FFmpeg yourself.
What changed
- If the download fails (no internet, or GitHub having a bad hour), the Miller tries again on a later round by itself.
- An FFmpeg of your own still comes first: on PATH, where the Miller found it before, or named in the FFmpeg setting. With that setting filled in, the Miller never fetches one.
- When the video encoder refuses, the page says what to do in plain words instead of a build instruction.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.11
It carries the Steward's kit 2.32.1: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.32.1: The kit names the app the person bought: Castellan.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.10
It carries the Steward's kit 2.32.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.32.0: A release goes to the agent's own repository, and to a releases repository only where one is named.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.9
It carries the Steward's kit 2.31.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.31.0: Local AI on every Copilot+ NPU, installed by setup: Qualcomm Snapdragon, Intel Core Ultra and AMD Ryzen AI.
Before you update
- The accelerators move from Reeve's
config.jsonto%USERPROFILE%\.manor\accelerators\config.jsonthe first time the Smith (or Reeve's keeper) reads them after updating: a copy, word for word, and Reeve's file is left as it was. Nothing to do. - On a PC whose NPU isn't set up yet, the Smith's or Manor's Set up now offers its maker's server and models (several GB) and asks first.
0.5.8
It carries the Steward's kit 2.30.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.30.0: A release is published to the Exchequer, Castellan's release service, as well as to GitHub.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.7
It carries the Steward's kit 2.29.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.29.0: Every agent's page fits a phone: the title bar's action and wide tables no longer push the page sideways.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.6
It names no folders of one particular PC.
What changed
- Its entry for Manor (manor-agent.json) no longer names a Node in a folder only one PC has: it runs on Manor's own Node, or one installed in the usual place.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.5
It carries the Steward's kit 2.28.1: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.28.1: Security fix: a value with curly quotes in it could break out of a PowerShell string.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.4
When it has no encoder, its page says so first.
What changed
- When the Miller can't find a video encoder, videos wait in the hopper until there is one. The Encoder card that says so, and what's needed, now comes first on the page, instead of at the bottom under the empty queue. With an encoder, the page is as before.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.3
It carries the Steward's kit 2.28.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.28.0: Required settings: an agent that can't work without something from you waits for it, and onboarding asks for it.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.2
It carries the Steward's kit 2.27.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.27.0: An accelerator's name is what the PC calls it, never a setting.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.1
Its page is drawn from smaller parts.
What changed
- The page's code is split into smaller components, so it is easier to keep right. It looks and works as before.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.5.0
A shorter Settings page, and a tour for new hires.
What's new
- A tour. When Manor hires the Miller it offers its tour: what it does, the drop folder, where the copies go and the video quality, then its page. Open it again any time at
#/tour. - The manor's page frame. The title bar, on and off duty, the theme and Back to Manor are the same as on every agent's page, and Run now is in the title bar.
What changed
- Settings is short. It shows the hopper and flour folders, the video quality and name suggestions. Where FFmpeg is and the photo and size limits are under Advanced.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual. Your settings, copies and the toll are kept.
0.4.29
It carries the Steward's kit 2.26.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.26.0: The kit names no one's GitHub account, private repository or folder.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.4.28
Ready for the Steward's kit 2.26.0: a name suggestion that doesn't say where it was written is no longer said to be the NPU's.
What changed
- A suggested name kept from before 0.3.0, which doesn't record where it was written, is labelled the way the Steward's kit labels any such note. From kit 2.26.0 that is "note from a local model, unverified", rather than a guess that it came from the NPU. Suggestions that say where they were written are labelled as before.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.4.27
FFmpeg is found where you put it: no folder of someone else's PC is built in.
What changed
- The FFmpeg search looks in the FFmpeg setting, then PATH, then where the Miller found FFmpeg last time, then Heiward's folder. The built-in folder of one particular PC is gone.
- A build of your own that the Miller already used keeps being found. A new one outside PATH goes in the FFmpeg setting.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual. The FFmpeg it uses now is remembered, so it keeps using it.
0.4.25
It carries the Steward's kit 2.19.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.19.0: Every release says what it brings: its notes are the agent's CHANGELOG.md entry for the version.

0.4.23
It carries the Steward's kit 2.17.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.

Before you update

0.4.19
