The Steward has three hires. On an everyday PC the Cellarer takes the office, on a gamer's PC the Butler does, and the other keeps working behind it. Both are in Household. With Workshop, the Steward takes the office and the others keep working behind it.

The Butler joins the gamers' household: your game saves backed up, and checked that they restore.

What's new

Finds your games' saves by itself: in Saved Games, My Games, Steam's cloud saves and Unreal Engine games' folders, and any save folder you add.
Backs them up to an external drive, another drive, a network folder or a cloud folder already on your PC, copying only what changed, every hour or when you press Back up now.
Keeps a changed save's older copy, so a save that went wrong can be taken back. Nothing in the backup is ever deleted.
Every week it restores a few saves from the backup and checks they match.
Says plainly what isn't covered yet, like a drive that's unplugged or a game it didn't find.

Before you update

Nothing: choose where to back up to when you hire it, and it starts.

Installing

Castellan installs and updates it by itself. To install it by hand, unpack the zip anywhere and run node src\cli.ts install (Node 22.18 or later). SHA256SUMS.txt lists its SHA-256 (PowerShell: Get-FileHash).
