The Herald
HouseholdWorks on its own, within what you allow
The news you follow, summed up.
One of four: the Gamer watches your games' patch notes, their launchers and your graphics drivers; General purpose brings local news, the weather and stock alerts; the Financial guru brings financial news; the PC caretaker watches your apps', Windows' and firmware updates and the security flaws in software you have.
Heralds carried news and messages between lords' courts.

The Herald has two hires. With Workshop, Developer Herald takes the office and Herald keeps working behind it.
What's new
Every release0.8.0
A shorter Settings page, a tour for new hires, and a page drawn with React.
What's new
- A tour. When Manor hires the Herald it opens its tour: what the Herald does, the settings only you can choose (the variant, and for General purpose and the Financial guru where you are and which stocks to follow), then its page, section by section. Open it again any time at
#/tour. - Settings show only your variant's. Choosing a variant shows its own settings at once; the others are kept, as they were, for switching back. Rarely touched tuning is folded under Advanced, and long sections fold away with links at the top.
- The round's pace follows the variant. By default General purpose and the Financial guru read their sources every hour, so the weather and the markets stay fresh; Gamer and PC caretaker every 6 hours. A round interval you chose stays.
What changed
- Settings that didn't need to be settings are gone:
- "Watch installed games": the Gamer variant always does.
- "Read per game": always 5.
- The weather's units: they follow Windows' region.
- A stock's name: Yahoo Finance's is used.
- "Show the Developer Herald's news here too": it shows whenever the Developer Herald runs.
- The summaries' sizes in tokens: they follow the accelerator the model runs on, so a graphics card reads longer notes in fewer pieces.
- Summaries are the kit's shared settings: "Plain-words notes" (whether to summarize) and, under Advanced, "Model calls per round". The round interval is the kit's too, in minutes.
- The page is drawn in the browser with the Steward's kit 2.25.0, in the same look. It keeps "3 hours ago" right as time passes, and redraws itself after each button.
Before you update
- Your settings are kept. Your summary choices carry over to "Plain-words notes" and "Model calls per round", and a round interval you set stays. The settings that went are passed over quietly.
- It needs the Steward's kit 2.25.0, which comes with this release.
- Otherwise nothing: it updates itself as usual.
