Uninstall everything#

  1. Open Windows' Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find Castellan, and choose Uninstall.
  2. Castellan's uninstaller asks whether to keep the settings and data of Castellan and its staff. Keep the settings and data of Castellan and its staff, for a later install is ticked: leave it ticked if you might come back, and a later install picks up where you left off. Untick it to remove them too.
  3. Choose Uninstall. Each step shows as it goes.

Removing the settings and data also gives this PC's place on your license back, so another PC can take it. If Castellan can't reach the license service at that moment, the uninstall goes on anyway: free the place later from another PC's Settings > License, or from your account page.

If a step fails, Castellan stays in Settings > Apps, so you can run the uninstall again. Show the log, on its last screen, has every step.

What stays#

  • Agents that were here before Castellan. A Reeve or a Heiward you installed yourself stays installed, with its data. Castellan only removes the agents it installed.
  • Your settings backups. They're in their own folder (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Castellan\Backups, unless you chose another), and the uninstall leaves them. Delete the folder yourself if you no longer want them.
  • Anything an agent moved for you, such as files the Warrener filed or the Miller made smaller, stays where it is: those are your files.

Letting one agent go instead#

You don't need to uninstall Castellan to remove one agent: Employee management on its role's card has Fire. See Hiring, switching and letting staff go.
