Make a smaller copy#
- Open the Miller's page: Open on its card in Castellan. Its Hopper and Flour folders are shown, and made the first time it runs.
- Copy or move your videos and photos into the hopper folder.
- Within a minute, they appear in the queue: settling while they're still being copied in, then ready. Press Run now to start at once.
- The file being ground shows how far along it is. A phone clip takes a little while; a long recording, longer.
- When it's done, the copy is in the flour folder, and on the page with its size, how much it saved, and the checks it passed.
If a copy fails a check, it's thrown away, and the file is listed as refused with why. Try again grinds it once more, after you change a setting, say.
Use the suggested name#
A kept video shows a suggested name beside it. Use this name renames the copy in the flour folder. The original keeps its name.
Put the original away#
Look at the copy first. Once you're happy with it, Move original to the Recycle Bin, and confirm. The original goes to the Recycle Bin, so you can still restore it from there.
The button refuses a file it can't send to the Recycle Bin safely: one on a network or removable drive, or bigger than the bin. Windows would delete those for good, so delete them yourself if you're sure.
Smaller or better#
Video quality in Settings is Balanced at first. Smaller files saves more space; Better pictures keeps more detail. It applies from the next video.
