When Heiward isn't working as it should

It missed a copy#

• It's in a folder Heiward leaves out: Windows, programs, app data, game libraries, a photo app's library, a code repository, or another account. Right-click the folder on the page, and choose Include in scans.
• It's on a USB stick, card or network drive. Add the folder to scans, the same way.
• It's only in the cloud. Heiward never reads files only in the cloud.
• It's a burst shot, a retake, or less than 75% alike: those aren't offered.
• The scan hasn't reached it yet. Press Scan now.

It offers photos that aren't copies#

Look-alikes and edits are offered, never ticked: they're for you to judge. Skip all, on a folder's Look-alikes tab, keeps them all as they are.

A file wasn't moved to the Recycle Bin#

The page says why:

• It changed since the scan. The next scan lists it afresh.
• Windows would delete it for good: it's on a network or removable drive, too big for the Recycle Bin, or on a drive whose bin is off. Delete it yourself if you're sure.
• It would leave no copy.

It doesn't run on the NPU#

The badge in the title bar says why:

• "No NPU available": the PC has none. Heiward runs on the graphics card or the processor.
• "Unsupported NPU": this version can't drive it yet.
• "NPU not set up": its pack isn't downloaded yet. It downloads itself; leave Heiward running, online.
• "NPU fell back": it couldn't run the model on it. Write to us.

It slows the PC down#

Background scans use at most a quarter of the processor. Scan now, and scans while the review page is open, run at full speed. In Settings, set Scans run to in the background for every scan to stay light. Pause stops scans for a while.

The page says Heiward isn't running#

It stopped, or the PC slept. Press Start Heiward: the page reloads once it's back. If it says its scan task is gone or off, press Turn them back on.

"Windows protected your PC" when installing#

Heiward isn't code-signed yet. Click More info, then Run anyway. On a PC with Smart App Control on, Windows blocks it outright.

Its page won't open#

Its page is http://heiward.localhost:18484/. With Castellan installed, Open on its card starts it if it's down, and Castellan checks every two minutes that it answers. Without Castellan, sign out of Windows and in again: Heiward starts at sign-in.
