When the Reckoner isn't working as it should
What to do when the Reckoner reports a device gone that you unplugged, blames the wrong update, misses something that stopped working, keeps a finding you fixed, or its page won't open.

It says a device is gone, but you unplugged it#
Mark it Comes and goes: it's never reported gone again. A device that's there most of the week is expected to be there; one you often unplug soon stops raising alarms on its own.
It names the wrong update#
"The update just before" is the nearest change, not a proven cause. A device that fails an hour after an update, with nothing between, is named with that update. Look at what failed, not only at the update.
Something stopped working, and it didn't say#
- It's waiting for the update to settle: up to 30 minutes. The page says when an update is settling.
- It's not a device Windows reports trouble on. An app that stopped working, or a device that works badly but reports nothing wrong, isn't seen.
- It was unplugged before the first stock-take, so there's no history to miss it from.
- Press Check now to take stock at once.
A finding is still there after you fixed it#
It closes as "fine again" at the next stock-take: press Check now. If what it says is still true but you don't mind, Dismiss it.
A printer keeps going offline#
Some network printers sleep, and show offline. Mark it Comes and goes.
A finding has no note#
Notes are written only for problems still standing, a few a round. The local AI may have been busy, or isn't set up: see Set up the local AI. The facts are the same either way.
Its page won't open#
Its page is http://reckoner.localhost:20505/. Open on its card in Castellan starts it if it's down, and Castellan checks every two minutes that it answers, and opens it again if it has stopped.
Still stuck?#
Write to us at support@castellan-software.com with the Reckoner's version (on its card in Castellan), and the reckoning it shows.
